Hi, I’m Sonia Gupta, JD, LCSW.

I grew up in the heart of Acadiana and have called New Orleans home—on and off—since 2003. Along the way, I’ve also lived in Denver and Los Angeles, but something about the magic of this city keeps pulling me back.

Before becoming a therapist, I walked a winding path: I earned my B.A. in English and American Literature from NYU, followed by a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans. I spent years serving the people of Louisiana—as a public defender, prosecutor, and assistant attorney general. Later, I took an unexpected detour into the tech world as a software developer and developer advocate. It was during that time I realized something essential: the pain and promise of the human experience can’t be solved with code. It has to be met—honestly, compassionately—in the mess and miracle of real life.

That realization led me to social work, and I went on to earn my MSW from Tulane University. Today, I’m a therapist because I believe in human resilience, redemption, and the quiet power of connection. I know that real change doesn’t just happen in systems—it happens in relationships, one brave conversation at a time.

When I’m not sitting with clients, you’ll probably find me wandering the streets of New Orleans with my dog, cooking something comforting, or savoring the beauty of a slow moment.
